Anna Wallis (CCE), Bernardita Sallato (WSU), Daniel Weber (PSU), Emily Lavely (MSU), Kristy Grigg-McGuffin (OMAFRA),  Mario Miranda Sazo (CCE LOF), Lindsay Hainstock (BC-AF), and Katelyn Hengel (BC-AF).

Please join us for a third season of Virtual Orchard Meetups in June-July 2023. Since 2021, where we can come together to talk about important tree fruit topics, connecting industry members across North America. In our first meetup we talked about all aspects around “Honeycrisp”, in our second meetup we addressed “Orchard Efficiency: Labor and Technology”. We invited over 20 experts’ and have reached more than 1000 participants.

In this third annual Webinar, we will discuss some of the main climate effects and resulting adaptations in orchards by showcasing growers and other specialists leading the development of these aspects of the industry. We will hear about their experiences managing the current challenges and participating in novel solutions, then open it up too all participants to ask questions or provide their own experiences.

Webinars will be conducted live on Thursdays at 4:00pm (PST)/7:00pm (EST), on June 15, 29, and July 13. The format will be an open discussion and in a very inclusive virtual format. Each webinar will last 90 minutes. The program is free of charge.  It’s a great excuse to take a break at the end of the day and connect with other producers from other fruit growing areas.

  • Webinar 1:  June 15 – Impact of cold weather
  • Webinar 2:  June 29 – Water issues
  • Webinar 3:  July 13 – Impact of heat

This extension effort is being conducted across North America and Canada in close collaboration with the International Fruit Tree Association (IFTA), the AI Institute for Transforming Workforce & Decision Support AgAID, and Cornell Institute for Digital Agriculture (CIDA).

Whether you are a fruit grower with ample experience, one that has modest experience, or one that is just getting started, the Virtual Orchard Meetups will be the right setting for you to ask questions and find alternative solutions.
